I could not be more excited to have The Write Place ARCs out in the world! I’m so happy you all are going to get the chance to dive into Mac and Daniel’s world. I just know you’re going to love them!
If you signed up for an ARC, it should be in your email now! If you didn’t, no worries. You can still pre-order on Amazon!
And today, we are going to skip our regularly scheduled coffee break so I can bring you the book playlist. It’s embedded at the bottom of this page, but you can also open it on Spotify by clicking below.
I don’t want to say too much about the playlist itself, because I don’t want to give too much away, but I can’t help but explain a few of the songs. I went full on early-aughts-college style and created this like a mix tape for you, carefully placing the songs in the order I think they should be listened to. And then I created these graphics out of order to highlight the character and moment songs. So, all of that is to say, you do you when listening. I just hope you enjoy!
First up are Mac’s character songs. Mac has carefully built up boundaries between her personal and professional life, and she puts a lot of stock into the control she has over her life and her school day. She is an excellent teacher, and she loves her job teaching students; one might say she’s made teaching a personality trait, and she is able to help Daniel process some things going on in his life just like she would with her students.
Next up are Daniel’s songs. Daniel is a famous writer, and has been since he was the age of the students in Mac’s class. You would think that would make him confident and happy, but lately he has consistently put into situations where he is made to feel like he’s not worth much. This has caused some epic writer’s block, which is why he’s asking Mac to shadow her—for inspiration. He doesn’t care about his fame or his money. He’s searching for a deeper connection.
The one song on here that doesn’t really fit is “Good Morning,” but it was an early song on the playlist, and I picture Daniel off to his first day of school playing this song, dancing Fred Astaire-style on his way to his car from his hotel room. Can Daniel dance like Fred Astaire? Probably not, but it’s fun to picture it, anyway.
Last are the moment songs. Most of these come from toward the end of the book, so I can’t say too much about them, but feel free to give them a listen to set the vibe while you’re reading these chapters!
I hope you enjoy this playlist, and I really hope you enjoy The Write Place. When you leave a review, point me to it! I’m so excited to hear what you all think!
