Let's help Texas flood relief efforts and get in the spirit for spooky season
Hi! It’s been a minute! I’m not going to lie, it’s summer, and I’ve mostly forgotten what day it is. My posting schedule has mostly gone right out the window. Substack? I’ll get to it. YouTube? You mean, you want me to get dressed and film myself?? Instagram? Checking in on DMs, but otherwise sporadic. TikTok? It’s chaos posting until further notice. Threads? Don’t know her.
But that doesn’t mean fun stuff isn’t happening behind the scenes. I’ve got cover-shaped things in my inbox that I’m itching to share, a draft that is *this close* to finished, and a couple of audiobooks on the way.
Speaking of audiobooks… Pumpkin to Talk About is currently in production and coming VERY SOON. And since the book takes place in Texas, I thought this could be a great way to collect some donations for flood relief after the devastating floods over the 4th of July weekend.
When I was writing Pumpkin to Talk About, I did a lot of research about Texas Hill Country. Mike and Belle call that area home, after all. Ironwood Flats, Texas might be a fictional town, but that area is experiencing some very real, very devastating floods right now.
Mike, Belle, and I want to help.
With the audiobook for Pumpkin to Talk About being released this fall (August or September!), I figured this could be a great opportunity to make a difference. If you donate $10 or more to a relief organization doing work in Texas between July 9-July 17 and upload a screenshot to this form, I will send you a code for the Pumpkin to Talk About audiobook when it releases*.
You can pick any organization you choose, but here are some suggestions:
Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country

TEXSAR - Texas Search and Rescue

ALA Disaster Relief Fund

Austin Pets Alive!
https://donate.austinpetsalive.org/campaign/674763/donate
World Central Kitchen
https://wck.org/relief/central-tx-floods-25
This is open to anyone from anywhere, and you can expect your code to be delivered to your email shortly after the audiobook releases in the fall.
*Limited to the first 50 responders. Form will close once 50 verified forms are received, or on July 17 at 3pm Central US time, whichever comes first. Donation MUST be made to Texas flood-specific organizations or national organizations doing direct work in Texas Hill Country.
Let’s make a difference with this spicy little novella, shall we?
In other news…
The Christmas by Design audiobook is also coming to audio on August 5! It’ll be available wherever you get your audiobooks, so I hope you add it to your holiday reading list!
And I have some signings coming up in July. If you’re in the area, I’d love to see you!
July 12 (10 AM - 2 PM)
The Atlas Collective in Moline, IL (signing!)
July 19 (6 PM)
Little Bean Books at Little Bean Coffee Company in Antioch, IL (Q&A and signing!)
July 20 (1 PM)
The Book Bar in Mokena, IL (Q&A and signing!)
Other than that…
I am ever-so-slowly coming out of my cave in the second half of summer. But first, I have to get back to finishing this draft!
Happy reading,
Allie
